Mussoorie ToursMussoorie, located some 250 miles north of Delhi, capital of India, is among the most popular hill stations of India, and is called the Queen among the hill stations. It overlooks the sprawling Doon valley and the city of Dehradun, the gateway to Mussoorie and infact to the entire Garhwal Tourist Attractions: o Gun Hill This is a pleasant 20-minute walk by a bridle path that forks of from Mall Road near Kutchery. A ropeway ride is also available to this second highest peak of Mussoorie. The distance by ropeway is only 400 meters. Gun hill offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges namely Bunderpunch, Shrikanta, Pithwara and Gangotri group and a bird's eye view of Mussoorie town and the Doon valley o Kempty Falls Buses or taxis can be taken to the waterfall, 15 km from Mussoorie on the Yamnotri Road at an altitude of 4500 feet. It has the distinction of being the largest and prettiest waterfall in the valley and is surrounded by high mountains. The stream flowing through a valley falls over a precipice and achieves its full intensity during the monsoons. o Municipal Garden This picnic spot has a beautiful garden and an artificial mini lake with boating facilities. It is located at a distance of 4 km if you take the main road and is only 2 km on foot via the Convent road. o Camel's Back Road The lovely promenade starts from Kulri Bazar near Rink Hall and ends at Library Bazaar making for a total distance of 3 kms. It is a popular road for walking or riding and is a grand spot from which to view the sunset. When viewed from near the Mussoorie Public School the spot resembles a camel's back. o Nag Devta Temple An ancient temple situated about 6 kms from Mussoorie. It provides a charming view of Doon Valley and Mussoorie.

By Rail: The nearest railheads from Ranikhet is at Kathgodam at a distance of 84 km By Road: Ranikhet is well connected by surface transport with Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh, Ramnagar, Moradabad and Delhi. Ranikhet lies along a ridge at an altitude of 1,830 m above the sea level. It is situated in the district of Almora in Kumaon Division of Uttaranchal. Ranikhet means 'Queen's Field' and is said to be named after the wife of the 12th-century raja, Sudhar Deve. Spread along a ridge at 1,830 metres (6,004 feet), Ranikhet is covered with pine and oak forests. On its northern side it offers fine snow views. Ranikhet is still a cantonment. The town is now the home of the Kumaon Regiment, one of the Indian army's best Tourist Attractions in Ranikhet: · Hera Khan Temple Hera Khan Temple and Ashram, near Chilianaula village, is four kms from Sadar Bazaar. The Hindu saint, Hera Khan, died in 1984 and the modern marble-faced temple with a grarden was constructed according to his wishes. The baba had many European followers and the ashram is inhabited mainly by them. · Uphat Uphat is 6 kms from Sadar Bazaar on Almora Road. It is the site of one of the highest golf courses with views of the Great Himalayas. The course was originally laid out by a British cavalry officer as a cross-country race track, and the track now forms the perimeter of the nine-hole course. The golf course is run by the army, but anyone with a set of clubs is welcome to a game for a nominal charge. The course is, however, closed during the monsoon, from July to September. There is a refreshment kiosk in the centre of the golf course. Just beyond the golf course is a small temple to Kalika and a government forest nursery. Further along the same road, 13 kms, from Sadar Bazaar, is Majkhali, recommended for its views of the snows. · Chaubatia It is ten kms from Sadar Bazaar. It was originally a sanatorium for British troops. It now houses the Government Fruit Garden and Research Station which grows 200 varieties of fruit. After wandering through the extensive woods and orchards of the garden one can also buy the produce at knockdown prices. The peak of the apple season is August-September. A three kms walk from Chaubatia leads to the artificial lake of Bhaludam. · Jhula Devi Temple Jhula Devi Temple is 7 km away. It is believed that once a month, a leopard comes to the temple, but only the priest sees it. Above Jhula Devi is a temple of Lord Ram and Binsar Mahadev, 19 kms away.
